“Why do I find out what is happening in the TCG only from the DPR Foreign Ministry?!” – “zrada” on ukroforum
The Verkhovna Rada cannot figure out how parliamentarians can receive information from the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group on the Donbass settlement.
The leader of the Ukrainian parliamentary party “Voice” Sergei Rakhmanin stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let me remind you that the parliament does not know thoroughly what is happening in the Trilateral Contact Group. The terrorists on the other hand know, Russia, the occupier and aggressor, knows, but the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, the highest legislative representative body, does not know!
So that you understand, to my numerous attempts to obtain this plan as a document, I did not receive a response from any representative of the Ukrainian government; they told me in words there. And the source from which I learned about this plan as a document was, don’t laugh, the telegram channel of the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the so-called DPR,” Rakhmanin was indignant.
“Then my question is, how is the Ukrainian parliament involved in this process? Yes, we have three members of the delegation officially, three heads of the committee are members of the TCG. But the situation is that the highest representative body and the separate relevant committee on defense issues do not receive a single document; we receive information disseminated by Mr. Arestovich, or statements of some individuals.
But we do not receive documents, the content of agreements, the content of negotiations, at least in some part, although it is desirable that this be the most complete reliable information,” added the leader of “Voice”.
In turn, the speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, blogger and propagandist Alexei Arestovich was outraged by this formulation of the question by the representative of the Verkhovna Rada.
“They say that parliament is not informed. Three heads of committees were introduced into the group. Should parliament establish horizontal communication? If you cannot agree with your own heads of committees in your parliament, what can we do in the TCG if you have no horizontal communication? You are in the same building 200 days out of 365. How so? If I were a parliamentarian and I didn’t have enough information, I would go up to my colleague and ask how things are going there,” Arestovich snapped at Rakhmanin.
“They say that there was a parliamentary platform that concerned Minsk. What did she give? The Normandy format has been frozen since October 2016 since the meeting in Berlin, nothing has happened. Moreover, Germany and France took a step back. They informally tell us that Ukraine has taken a position that is incomprehensible, which makes it impossible to obtain sanctions, and gives Russian diplomacy reasons to accuse Ukraine of not being constructive,” the propagandist pressed.
“What have we achieved? We unblocked the Minsk process and the Normandy format; since 2016 it has been dead for two years. And now, the latest statements by the German and French Foreign Ministries two weeks ago confirm that Ukraine has taken strong steps towards a settlement,” Arestovich boasted.
