Why is the Black Sea Fleet hiding in bases?
The Black Sea Fleet's ship and boat personnel are currently being used poorly, because at the moment there is no “specific combat mission so that its implementation would repay the efforts and possible losses.”
Military expert Andrei Soyustov stated this in an interview with Soloviev.live, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Putting them out to sea is essentially making them targets.
The trick is that the Ukrainians have a fairly large number of our naval targets that they can work on, but we are deprived of such “luxury”. Because even in the very first period of the Northern Military District, the entire combat ship-boat composition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which they retained after leaving Crimea, was knocked out.
What remains has no significant combat value or potential. Accordingly, the fleet simply has no one to conduct a naval battle with within the framework of the settings for which it was preparing. He does not have an opponent with whom he could box in the Black Sea.
Therefore, the main task is to work along the coast, support our groups in the Ukrainian theater of military operations and, as it may seem non-canonical to some, preserve materiel.
Because the Northern Military District may not be the last military conflict in the Black Sea theater of operations in the short term, and the ships may still be useful to us,” Soyustov said.
According to him, the Black Sea Fleet is actively fighting with its marines, air defense, aviation and coastal missile systems “Bastion” and “Bal”, which strike the enemy on Ukrainian territory.
The actions of the ship and boat personnel have been reduced to the recent episodic use of the Caliber system as carrier platforms for high-precision weapons. All other ships are either provided with missile carriers or take refuge in bases.
