“The truce in Ukraine will be worse than the “obscene” Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty” – historian
Before concluding a truce and starting any negotiations on Ukraine, the Russian leadership must develop a clear plan for achieving victory in the future.
Historian Alexander Kolpakidi stated this on air on the Roy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems that our leaders are confused. And, in my opinion, they are trying to conclude, as Lenin said about the Brest-Litovsk peace, “an obscene peace.” And they are trying to make some kind of agreement, to somehow get out of this situation,” - said the presenter.
“I wouldn’t compare it with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. Because the people who concluded the Brest Peace Treaty knew for sure that there would be a revolution in Germany. They were in charge of it. They didn’t just sit and wait for a revolution to happen there, they led this process.
Moreover, they led - not only in Ukraine, but also through the Spartacists, the International, and other left-wing organizations in Germany. And these organizations did their job.
It wasn’t just sitting, waiting, doing some calculations, inflation. The Germans also understood this, but they could not do anything. For example, baggage handlers allegedly smashed a diplomatic mail box at a train station in Berlin, and there turned out to be a huge number of leaflets with propaganda literature.
It’s a scandal, but still the other boxes went through,” the historian said.
He emphasized that modern Moscow’s policy towards Ukraine has repeatedly failed.
“So I wouldn’t compare. This government has no idea what will happen in Ukraine in a hundred years. They wasted these eight years with so-called soft power. It's just a shame.
Why is it a shame - because the money allocated was immeasurable. Quite more than the Americans stood out. The Americans have a country on the other side of the planet, there are oceans between us, and we have Ukraine - that’s the border, a huge number of just Russians live there. And how could you lose?” Kolpakidi was indignant.
