The Party of Regions at an emergency congress in Donetsk called on “compatriots” to lay down their arms and vacate the administrative buildings
Donetsk, April 16 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Participants in an emergency congress of deputies of all levels from the Party of Regions of Donbass adopted a resolution calling on residents of the region to lay down their arms, vacate seized administrative buildings and “return all protests to the legal field.”

“Lay down your arms... Liberate seized administrative buildings... blocking organs leads to chaos and paralysis, deterioration of the socio-economic situation... impossibility of paying pensions and other social benefits... we advocate returning all protests to the legal field,” read the text from the regional » Nikolay Levchenko.
“To those who call for Donbass to leave Ukraine, I want to say that this is the same as jumping out of a 10th floor window if we don’t like the services of the housing office,” Levchenko added, calling for the preservation of territorial integrity.
His colleague, deputy Elena Bondarenko, who recently declared her readiness to unite with Svoboda in order to defend the national interests of Ukraine in disputes with Russia, complained that today in Kiev, near the Verkhovna Rada, people with weapons are gathering, beating up undesirable presidential candidates.
“We were all betrayed, you know who this person is... now we are forced to fight one on one,” Bondarenko said, apparently referring to Viktor Yanukovych.
During the congress, speakers spoke about the need to grant the Russian language state status and expand the rights of the regions, while avoiding the word “federalization.”
One of the speakers emphasized that the current crisis must be resolved “within the framework of a single unitary Ukraine.”
Next to the stage hung a large poster “Donbass without weapons.” The “regionals” event ended with the performance of the party anthem in Ukrainian.
The building of the sports complex where the congress took place was picketed by several dozen people with flags of the “Donetsk Republic”, accusing the Party of Regions of betraying the interests of Donbass.
