Poroshenko's party capitulates to Zelensky
The decision of the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on early parliamentary elections is unconstitutional, but nevertheless re-elections will have to be held.
Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko stated this at a briefing following consultations between leaders of parliamentary factions in the presidential administration of Ukraine.
At the same time, she admitted that the Petro Poroshenko Bloc will go to early elections.
According to her, the BPP is not afraid of elections, because “every politician should be ready for new elections the day after the end of the previous ones.”
Gerashchenko noted that in the coming days the new president will issue a decree on early elections, which will be held on July 21 or 28.
The head of the BPP faction, Artur Gerasimov, also announced his readiness for early elections, indicating that the party “will definitely take part in them.” Although he also made a reservation about violating the Constitution.
