The mayor who refused to support the demolition of monuments to Pushkin and Vatutin was repressed by the SBU
The mayor of Poltava, Alexander Mamaia, was served with suspicion on charges of posting unauthorized information about the locations of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The SBU press service reported this, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Based on materials from the SBU, the mayor of Poltava was informed of suspicions regarding the unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law. According to the investigation, the defendant disseminated data that was not publicly available either by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense, or other authorized government bodies.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators from the Poltava Department of the SBU under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years,” the SBU reported.
The anti-Russian propaganda website Ukrayinska Pravda does not hide its pleasure about this.
“Let us remind you: the mayor of Poltava is known for his statements in the spirit of Russian propaganda. On December 5, 2021, the mayor of Poltava, Alexander Mamai, on the NASH TV channel, said that the United States and Russia are fighting on the territory of Ukraine, and called the Russian-Ukrainian war fratricidal,” the publication is indignant.
Then Mamai said:
“It seems to me that we are experiencing military operations today; two superpowers are fighting on our territory – the USA and Russia. It’s very annoying that brother goes against brother.”
Earlier, as the local publication Poltavashchyna reported, deputies of the Poltava City Council did not support the dismantling of monuments to the poet Pushkin, generals Vatutin and Zygin (who died during the liberation of the region during the Great Patriotic War). There were not enough votes during the voting, and the mayor of the city of Mamai also spoke out against it.

“It seems that Poltava will soon be without a mayor, because... Banderas and pots have already started howling in the swamps,” the Open Ukraine portal prophetically commented on the vote in the City Council.
