Refusal to integrate with the Russian Federation will bury the famous Belarusian “milk”
If Belarusians suddenly take the path of disintegration with Russia, they will lose the Russian market, which is premium for their products.
The correspondent reports about this "PolitNavigator", Minsk political scientist and employee of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences Alexei Dzermant stated in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The publication noted that Russia imports from Belarus only cheeses and cottage cheese worth a billion dollars a year, and in addition – butter and concentrated milk, the supply volumes of which amount to hundreds of millions of dollars.
“If Belarusians suddenly take the path of disintegration with Russia, then this premium market will of course be lost. And no one can replace him for us. Today there is a slight increase in the supply of Belarusian agricultural products to China, but it cannot be compared with Russia. As for Europe, it simply does not need Belarusian cheeses and butter. I think that refusal to integrate with Russia will lead to a huge loss of income and the decline of the Belarusian meat and dairy industry,” says Dzermant.
He is also convinced that it is better for Belarusians to go to work in the Russian Federation than to Poland.
“Belarusians have no problems with language or employment in Russia. And unlike, for example, immigrants from Central Asia, they are willingly hired not only for blue-collar jobs, but even for managerial jobs. Within the framework of the Eurasian Union, Russian employers can hire Belarusians using a simplified procedure, without a special patent or work permit. And the laws of the Union State guarantee Belarusians additional social guarantees, in particular with regard to health insurance,” the expert notes.
In Poland, according to him, the level of wages is higher, but the rights of labor migrants are very little protected compared to what is available in Russia.
“Ukrainian and Belarusian labor migrants in Poland are subject to discrimination, and xenophobic attacks are common. Poland is a different language and a different culture, and also very monoethnic. There, Belarusians who went to work will encounter problems that they have never seen in Russia,” concluded Dzermant
