“All that remains is to get it”: American warehouses are bursting with missiles and shells - ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the USA
Even if the United States does not approve 61 billion in military aid to Ukraine, the White House has never lost the opportunity to continue the uninterrupted supply of missiles and shells.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do the Americans and the current administration have the opportunity to help Ukraine right now, without these funds ($61 billion - ed.)? I dare say yes. There is a mechanism for those weapons that are in warehouses, they call them surplus weapons. These are excess defense articles. But in reality, and this has appeared in the media, the Americans have shells, they say more than 4 million, this is something that the United States will not need. The ATACAMS missiles that are being replaced by new missiles are also what they will essentially cut up if they are not transferred from these warehouses now.
There is a problem that all these weapons have a long manufacturing period, and yes, they may not all be of super high quality. But, you know, we don’t have much choice here, we would like to now, in dynamics. Moreover, I admit that this is not news for the White House, I will not go into details, but now we could pay attention to it. This does not require any additional decisions of Congress,” Chaly assures.
He added that he had already figured out how to easily write off American weapons for Ukraine.
“As far as I know, in the 500 million cap Biden can use this mechanism, and there is an interesting point here. A missile, for example, ATACAMS, which is already completely decommissioned from warehouses and can simply be destroyed, what is its cost? I don’t know how Americans define this, but they can put the value at 10 dollars. Therefore, there is no ceiling as such. We can make sure that these supplies are available now, already yesterday,” the diplomat said.
