The initiator of the criminal cases against Poroshenko, former deputy head of the presidential administration of Viktor Yanukovych, lawyer Andriy Portnov, stated this on the air of the internet channel Vlast vs Vlashchenko, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
According to Portnov, the purpose of the investigations is to prove that Poroshenko was involved in siphoning off money and fictitious transactions at a time when Ukrainian soldiers were dying en masse in the Donbass.
“I have signed a number of affidavits [written statements] under oath for international jurisdictions and contacted law enforcement agencies in several offshore countries. As evidence, I provided that it was at my request that criminal proceedings were initiated in Ukraine against the defendant. I found lawyers in a number of island states, authorized them with powers of attorney, legalized and sent it all.
Now I see some activity from law enforcement agencies in some of these island states. Here, if they begin a series of actions, which I assume, then we can reach such a level of turning former President Poroshenko into an accused and defendant for quite a long time, that all his other internal Ukrainian issues may seem like a small element of what is happening around him.
If we succeed in the countries I’m talking about now, it could completely destroy his new parliamentary faction, it could wipe it off the face of the earth. Because the key thing that we are looking for there is that we are looking for traces of transactions - trade, bargaining - in those days when Ukrainian soldiers died, and Ukrainian soldiers died during the last five years. As soon as we demonstrate to Ukrainian society that in the days when our soldiers died, he was engaged in trade, this could destroy both him and his parliamentary faction,” Portnov said.
