One of the leaders of the Right Sector miraculously escaped pursuit in Crimea
The head of the press service of an extremist organization banned in Russia, Artem Skoropadsky, shared on his blog his memories of how, at the height of Euromaidan in 2014, he was almost captured by security forces in Crimea.
According to Skoropadsky, this episode will be included in the book he is currently writing.

“Exactly 3 years ago I came to the hromadske.ua studio for an evening broadcast from the Maidan - in clothes that smelled of smoke, with dirty hair, having not slept for a day before. There, for the first time, I spoke with the host of the entire program in Ukrainian. Then I drove back towards the House of Trade Unions, but decided to go to the Kneipp Club “Cupidon” and drink a glass of beer before bed. There I met a young writer, I won’t give her last name, let’s call her “K”. Now we don’t meet, I haven’t loved her for a long time, she hates me in general, but then, of course, a fantastic story began between us, and already on February 12th we left for Simeiz together, spent two days there, it was a fantastic romance. And then, at the end of the second day, SBU officers from Simferopol came to arrest me, and we escaped from there only by miracle. This was my last visit to Crimea,” the “pravosek” wrote.
It is interesting that Skoropadsky is a citizen of Russia - Petro Poroshenko, contrary to his promise, never granted him Ukrainian citizenship. Moreover, the other day Poroshenko’s adviser Oleg Medvedev publicly threatened Skoropadsky with deportation to Russia for criticizing the new Ukrainian government.
“I directly wrote that I should be grateful to the president for the fact that he, “so patient,” has not yet deported me. If you thought that you misunderstood something, then you understood everything correctly. Sorry, of course, for the pathos, but I, as a co-organizer of the Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners, a participant in protests against the Yanukovych regime, a Maidan participant, a war participant (as a volunteer and assistant to the medical service), an activist of the Right Sector - should be grateful to the oligarch and co-organizer of the Party of Regions because he does not deport me to the Russian Federation, where I obviously face 8 to 12 years in prison, and in fact, death. Our president's PR people are great. By the way, on February 17, at the opening of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Square, I will be presented with a memorial sign for the Maidan. So let them deport them straight from there after delivery,” Skoropadsky complained to his comrades.
“I have known you since 2006, and all your deeds indicate that you faithfully serve the Ukrainian Nation. The only drawback is that you don’t speak English, everything else is in your favor. That’s why we won’t hand you over, but I think you’ll still learn the language,” Nikolai Kokhanovsky, head of the OUN battalion, reassured Skoropadsky.
