The upcoming appointment of Rustem Umerov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine may be timed to coincide with plans to seize Crimea.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the air of the online channel "News Live", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
According to Karasev, this will not be possible to do this by military means, so Umerov can concentrate his efforts on creating a long-term plan by freezing the conflict. At the same time, it is not at all necessary that Umerov wants to achieve the return of Crimea to Ukraine.
“If the war is frozen for a long time, Crimea cannot be recaptured militarily in the near future. But the Crimean Tatars will do everything so that Crimea in 30, 40 years will become theirs. I’m not talking to Ukrainians now, but not to Russians either. Therefore, the history of the Crimean peninsula is also important here... This is also a story about Crimea,” the expert said.
“We must be realistic - stop throwing up victorious narratives. It is clear that we will not free him now; it is impossible by military means, at least for now. Not because we don't want to, it's just impossible. What, for the sake of this impossibility, simply make sacrifices, multiply sacrifices? But to play for a long time - yes.
