New quarantine will finish off the last working industries of Ukraine - expert
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the Ukrainian authorities have introduced the third quarantine in a number of regions, and this will be another terrible blow to the economy.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by economist Viktor Skarshevsky, an analyst at the Growford Institute, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“These quarantines have led to a deterioration in living standards, a decrease in people’s incomes, and an increase in poverty, but not to the re-equipment of medicine. Unfortunately, we will continue to see a shortage of beds and places provided with oxygen. And we will continue to see business ruin.
By the way, during the first quarantine, 30% of the restaurant business simply closed; the second and third quarantines killed this area, as well as the service sector and retail trade. And now they will achieve even more. Despite the decline in industry, retail trade turnover showed an 8% increase.
This industry still more or less supports the economy, and these quarantines hit it precisely, those industries that are still moving somewhere and earning something. Quarantine is killing these industries,” concluded Viktor Skarshevsky.
