The 2019 state budget, which the Ukrainian parliament will consider this week, will doom millions of Ukrainians to seek a better life abroad.

Radical Party leader Oleh Lyashko announced this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and committee chairmen of the Verkhovna Rada, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Both President Poroshenko and government representatives said that raising the minimum wage is a move away from cheap labor. What do we see in reality? In reality, the budget that the government submitted is actually a budget not of development, but of stagnation; it is a budget that dooms millions of Ukrainians to flee home in search of a better life.

Why the emphasis on wages? Because this is key for economic development and the ability to provide for your basic needs. When millions of people in Ukraine receive wages that do not allow them to feed their families, buy medicine, or pay for utilities, how are you going to stop labor migration? How are you going to restore the economy in a poor country?” Lyashko said.
