New Zrada: Lawyers working in the LDPR cannot be deprived of their powers
The Ukrainian Bar Association does not want to deprive lawyers working in the DPR and LPR of the opportunity to practice law in Ukraine, avoiding direct and indirect accusations against their colleagues.
Ukrainian lawyer, partner of Legal Alliance Law Firm Ilya Kostin spoke about this during a press conference, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“My colleagues and I have been trying for more than three years to deprive at least one lawyer, and there are many, hundreds of them, we have a register of DPR lawyers, at least one, the right to practice law in Ukraine, but the leadership of the National Bar Association of Ukraine is doing its best to slow down this process, disciplinary proceedings were never even opened.
Regarding the lawyers, we provided testimony, for example, so you understand, we've already processed this testimony ( given during the press conference – editor's note ) and sent a complaint to the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Donetsk Regional Bar Association. We don't expect them to condemn each other there; they know everything there, but we'll go through this paperwork.

“We have gone through all the rounds of appeals, and we believe that the position of the leadership of the National Association, they deliberately push this position, so as not to bring to justice those people who betrayed Ukraine, and besides, they do not see a violation of the rules of lawyer ethics at all.
It even got to the point that I decided with my colleagues that they would give, at least not personally, an explanation as to whether a Ukrainian lawyer can be a member of the DPR/LPR bar.
Seven times they submitted this clarification to the Bar Council of Ukraine, but on the eighth time they gave an explanation, which boils down to the fact that they never wrote about the DPR/LPR, they simply wrote that they do not have the authority to give explanations about the actions of lawyers in participation in other organizations, and further cite the laws of Ukraine: “On professional development”, “On trade unions” and others. Just a mockery. It was just done in such a way as to answer something,” summed up Kostin.
