President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the actions of Poland, which pulled 20 thousand military and police personnel to the border to confront the 2 thousand migrants concentrated on the Belarusian side, blackmail.
He stated this in an interview with Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today fight against migrants with “Leopards”. Excuse me. You and I, military people, understand what it means today to wage a war with these unfortunate people on the border of Poland, for example, with Belarus - and move forward columns of tanks. It’s clear that this is some kind of training or blackmail,” Lukashenko said.
He assured that Belarus is acting carefully so as not to involve Russia in the migrant crisis.
“We are calmly confronting this. We do not bully ourselves, as some in Russia do, and our fugitives do with them. Because we know that if we make any mistake, if we stumble, it will immediately drag Russia into this whirlpool.
And this is the largest nuclear power. I'm not crazy, I understand perfectly well what this can lead to. Therefore, there is no heroism here: I grabbed a machine gun and went to the Polish border, by the way, I served there. In no case. We are aware, we know our place, but we will not kneel,” Lukashenko said.
