Instability in Ukraine affects the Transnistrian economy
Chisinau - Tiraspol, June 03 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - The issue of the influence of the difficult external situation, including in Ukraine, on the socio-economic situation in Transnistria was discussed at a meeting of the President of the unrecognized PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk with representatives of the government of the republic.

At the meeting, it was noted that in recent months there has been a decrease in production volumes of a number of Pridnestrovian enterprises, a decrease in foreign trade turnover has been recorded, and, as a result, tax revenues to budgets of all levels are decreasing. The arrears in tax payments to budgets of various levels generally amount to about 30%.
According to the presidential press service, government members presented a set of measures, including legislative initiatives aimed at minimizing the negative impact of global economic instability and the situation in Ukraine on Pridnestrovie.
“Resources are being sought to support the payment of wages to public sector employees, pensions, and benefits in difficult conditions,” it was said during the meeting.
Head of the Presidential Administration Nadezhda Baranova said that a decision had been made to provide the government with the financial support necessary to pay off accounts payable to state unitary enterprises.
“The government is providing assistance to a whole group of economic agents in order to support employment of the population. The situation is difficult, but controllable,” President Yevgeny Shevchuk told reporters following the meeting.
