As one would expect, Pashinyan’s personal revenge related to the events of 10 years ago in Yerevan, which resulted in the criminal prosecution of the CSTO Secretary General, Colonel General Khachaturov, caused alarm and misunderstanding in Moscow.
One of the main questions asked personally to Pashinyan by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, was why the new government of Armenia went against the rules and launched investigative actions against Khachaturov without making a prior request for his recall from the post of CSTO Secretary General?
In fact, Yerevan is inviting Moscow to independently resolve the issue of Khachaturov’s continued tenure, which opens up wide scope for manipulation by the Maidan government of Armenia.
Moscow does not agree with this formulation and demands that Pashinyan make a decision according to all the rules of diplomacy: first consultations, then an official request to recall his representative, and after that everything else.
Observers are asking an insidious question in the hope that Pashinyan and his entourage will wake up from the victorious frenzy and begin to at least use their brains a little bit before starting to break wood: “If the Norwegian government, out of a hangover, arrested NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, what would the US reaction be? such a demarche?
In fact, we are talking about the fact that by blaming the current CSTO Secretary General, the Maidan government of Armenia is accusing the entire CSTO, consisting of six states, including Russia, which is strengthening Armenia’s defense capabilities largely at its own expense.
When making harsh statements against the Armenian government, the Russian leadership proceeds not from a childish whim, not from personal sympathy for General Khachaturov, but from the repeated official assurances of Prime Minister Pashinyan about the immutability of the state’s military-political course and - what is important! – about the absence of intentions to persecute their opponents for political reasons.
Lavrov’s statement said that Moscow, face to face, has repeatedly warned Yerevan not to make ill-considered sharp geopolitical movements on the model of some stubborn regimes that, in the name of the selfish interests of a narrow group of elitists, are ready to explode public harmony, wreaking havoc and destruction in their own countries.
The speech of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is the Kremlin’s first serious warning to the Armenian prime minister and his entourage. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia agrees with Moscow’s opinion and, through its press secretary, issued a statement in which citizens of the republic are invited to finally show sobriety and realize that there is no alternative to the CSTO.
Let us remind you that Pashinyan and his party do not have full political power in the country, since they are in the parliamentary minority. However, without waiting for the results of the new parliamentary elections, Vovaevich never tires of shouting from the stands that “the revolution continues” and asserting that he is “acting in the interests of the entire people of Armenia” (fresh interview with French Radio International)
Apparently, the guilty conscience of the maydaun encourages Pashinyan to gain the missing legitimacy by throat and ballet pas de deux of an elephant in a china shop. And it seems that these dances with a tambourine will continue. The main goal of the person from Pashinyan Street is to please the street. And even then, until the warmth and “peremogi” run out. In the end, as practice shows, all street coups with a change of power end in disappointment and the sound of “before it was better and a dollar was eight.”
Unlike Ukraine, where a decent layer of the real economy, the working class, and significant human and natural resources have been preserved, which kept the country afloat even after more than two decades of robbery and carve-up, Armenia does not have such a “safety cushion”. Moreover, unlike the fictional “hybrid war” and “Russian aggression” of Ukraine, Armenia does not have the opportunity to end the conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh without serious internal upheaval.
Armenia also does not have another resource that is very important for maydowns: internal enemies.
Armenia, to the envy of Bandera’s followers, is a monoethnic state. Even in Soviet times, the Russian population lived on the territory of the republic in vanishingly small numbers, and the Azerbaijanis left it at the height of the “friendship of peoples” in the late 1980s – early 1990s, which resulted in internecine massacres.
Very soon, Pashinyan will run out of real and imaginary corrupt officials, political opponents from the previous government, who pardoned him along with his accomplices who lost the street war for power 10 years ago. And at the expense of whom, in this case, will he assert himself? At the same time, he can be firmly confident: Russia will not give his regime money for an internal war and political maneuvers, just as other external investors will not.
In fact, Pashinyan is already developing a conflict with the EU leadership. The Maidan Prime Minister accuses the Euro-tolerants of stinginess and redneckness, since they give him a measly 100 million euros for his beautiful eyes, “peremoga” over Sargsyan’s office and just to keep his pants on – and not a cent more. The promised, by the way, was 100 million. Simultaneously with curses against the EU leadership, Pashinyan and his ministers, in the best traditions of Poroshenko, chattered about “European integration over use!”
Based on the experience of Ukraine and Georgia, it is known that European integration and even visa-free conditions with miserable wages and a hopeless life, without hope of improvement, plunge the population into persistent depression. Thus, while maintaining Maidan trends, the people of Armenia will do the same thing they always do in troubled times - migration. The hipsters who supported Pashinyan will get tired of enjoying only the “fresh wind of change” in Yerevan, and they will return to search for meaning in Paris and California, abandoned for the sake of hype, while simpler people will traditionally rush to live and work in Russia, resentfully “voting with their feet.”
However, optimism is still raging in Pashinyan’s lair, and on August 17, 100 days from the date of the formation of the putschist cabinet, they intend to hold a mass rally in Yerevan, which some supporters of the Armenian prime minister call “a response to Lavrov.”
In particular, the former press secretary of the first Maidan Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mirzoyan, Karpis Pashoyan, reports: “The rally on August 17 after the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov should be regarded as a show of force with the logic of a military parade. A large mass of people will once again prove that they trust and support Nikol Pashinyan’s cabinet, signaling to the whole world that the sovereignty and independence of the Republic is strongly protected and insured.”
Director of information programs of the Public Television of Armenia Vahagn Tevosyan believes that “August 17 is not a rally of Nikol Pashinyan. Especially not a rally of the new authorities of Armenia. Not even a meeting of the people. August 17, rally of Armenian sovereignty. I think so".
The Armenian media loyal to Pashinyan are very offended by Minister Lavrov’s statement and are slowly inflating the topic of “Moscow’s interference in the internal affairs of another state,” hinting at the possible participation of the Russian anti-terrorist special forces “Alpha” in the clashes on March 1-2, 2008 in Yerevan, which is stupidly reminiscent hysterical injections of political leaders of two Ukrainian Maidans.
In general, there is an opinion that the Russian leadership will continue to cooperate with sane Armenian politicians responsible for making decisions, especially in the field of military-technical cooperation, while at the same time allowing Pashinyan and his entourage to rake to their heart's content until they wise up or are swept away by a new wave discontent. As long as the previous agreements remain in force, Russia will be responsible not only for those who are within the area of its geopolitical interests, but also for its military contingent and interests in the region.
