“Now there is a man on the podium, thanks to whom grass grows in the spring through the roads of “velyky kradivnytstvo” (from “velyke budivnytstvo” (great construction) - ed.), and bridges fall across Ukraine. “Ukravtodor” – bravo. Considering your personal participation in the debiting of the “great city,” do you plan to further increase the cost of kilometers of roads, and what do you plan to do with the road cartel that is defrauding the entire road industry? – asked the Eurosolidarity deputy, known as the “voice of the Lviv Maidan” Sofia Fedina, with venom.

“Will your conscience not be tormented by the fact that the money from the coronavirus fund is rolled into roads along which people are taken to the cemetery?” – the deputy added.

In response, Kubrakov agreed that bridges do indeed fall, although only those built in 2017.

“I don’t know why they’re falling, maybe they built it this way? There, Prime Minister Groysman wrote a corresponding post, and Deputy Prime Minister Kistion solemnly opened it, and the bridges are falling, maybe because they stole a little? As for the cost of construction, there are statistics: according to the results of 2020, the cost per kilometer, compared to 2019, when your team was still there, the cost fell by 19 percent, this is statistics,” he said.

The candidate’s words offended Poroshenko’s associates, who began to be indignant that they received a “political answer.”

“They only talked about the previous minister, so that none of the ministers would answer us as a politician, but as a minister of the executive branch. You, Mr. Kubrakov, just made an absolutely incorrect statement and explanation regarding the question that my colleague asked,” deputy Nina Yuzhanina stood up for a fellow party member.

“The whole nation knows what kind of “stealth” took place in the midst of rolling out the 35 billion road. Maybe you are not to blame for this, but you could at least refuse in order to preserve your honor and not be tarnished in further actions to which you will be forced,” she added.

“Nina Petrovna, I sometimes receive parliamentary appeals from you regarding the construction of roads, and it turns out that they are sometimes drawn up in the interests of one of the companies that operates in the Kyiv, Zhitomir, Chernigov regions,” Kubrakov sarcastically replied.

As a result, the candidacy of Alexander Kubrakov for the post of Minister of Infrastructure was supported by 284 votes.
