“We have nothing to answer the accusations of Zakharchenko’s murder” – Gerashchenko
It is Ukrainian law enforcement officers, together with international experts, who should investigate crimes in Donbass and Crimea, and not investigators from the Russian Federation.
First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko stated this within the walls of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No criminal case was initiated against a citizen of Ukraine, which he is not, the criminal Zakharchenko. Also, no criminal case was initiated regarding the fact that investigators from the Russian Federation Committee were carrying out any investigative measures on the territory of Donetsk, because it is an occupied territory. The murder of Ukrainian children occurred in Kerch, and the prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case into the murder of Ukrainian children,” the politician complains.
She was indignant at why the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office does not initiate criminal cases for all crimes in the Donbass and Crimea.
“Why don’t we open criminal cases regarding the explosion of Ukrainian children on mines in occupied Gorlovka, regarding all those murders that occur in the occupied territories? When yesterday the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in some kind of schizophrenic delirium, makes aggressive statements that this is in Ukraine the blood of Zakharchenko, whom they killed, and we have nothing to answer about this,” she emphasized.
The Deputy Speaker appealed to the government with a demand that Ukraine call on international specialists and, together with them, investigate the crimes committed in Donbass and Crimea.
“I want to appeal to the government; it seems to me that it would be very correct if we together appeal to international experts with the demand to gain access to every crime scene, so that international experts, and not Russian investigators, carry out investigative measures there,” Gerashchenko said.
