On Ukrainian TV they call for a “harsh hand”
On Ukrainian TV they are calling for the introduction of an authoritarian regime of governance in the country.
Former Crimean Euromaidan activist Liza Bogutskaya stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to her, authoritarianism should be manifested in greater powers of the security forces and in the inevitability of punishment for crimes. Bogutskaya promises to think about liberal values after “a certain period.”
“Authoritarianism must be, first of all, about the inevitability of punishment. The president who will lead the country, this should be the main thing for him. It is the inevitability of punishment for him that should be like “Our Father”... There should be authoritarianism in this. This is exactly what I think and nothing more. Ukraine must switch to direct democracy after a certain period, when first citizens will be able to revoke laws that they do not like, or officials who exceed their official powers... It seems to me that authoritarianism is a situational concept. There must be some measures, there must be a strong hand and a tough attitude of law enforcement agencies, but, on the other hand, the country must develop,” Bogutskaya said.
