“WebMoney”, “Yandex.Money”, “Qiwi” and “Wallet One” were banned in Ukraine

The National Bank of Ukraine reminded banking institutions operating in Ukraine that conducting transactions using electronic money of the “WebMoney”, “Yandex.Money”, “QIWI Wallet”, “Wallet one” / “Unified Wallet” trademarks is prohibited, since the rules of use electronic money of these brands has not been approved by the regulator.

The NBU press service notes that according to Ukrainian legislation, the issue of electronic money in Ukraine can only be carried out by a bank. At the same time, a bank that intends to issue electronic money is obliged, before issuing it, to agree with the National Bank on the rules for using electronic money in the manner established by the regulatory legal act of the National Bank.

At the same time, today the National Bank of Ukraine has agreed on the rules of the intrastate settlement system “WebMoney.UA”, which are not rules for the use of electronic money and do not contain a description of transactions with electronic money.
