In Ukraine, the sites of mass Nazi atrocities are solemnly marked with memorial plaques.
Ukrainian nationalists are turning the mass execution of the Polish and Jewish population into a cause for pride.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Thus, on the site of the former village of Yanova Dolina, now Basaltovoye, Rivne region, UPA supporters erected a memorial plaque, which states that in the period from April 21 to 22, the forces of the Ukrainian rebel army carried out a military operation and destroyed the German and Polish underground , allegedly liberating the village from the Nazis.
At the same time, the information of the nationalists, according to Eduard Dolinsky, is not truthful.
“Memorial plaque in honor of the heroic operation of the UPA to “liquidate the fortified base of the Polish-German occupiers in Janova Dolina. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!".
The information on the board is, to put it mildly, incomplete. On the night of April 23, 1943, the UPA attacked the Polish village of Janova Dolina, where about 600 people were brutally killed, including old people and children. Most of the houses were burned to the ground.
The attackers, led by former policeman Ivan Litvinchuk, killed with extreme cruelty: with axes, knives, bayonets, and burned alive.
The Ukrainians were taken out of the hospital, the Poles were burned alive, and the doctors were killed in front of the building. The place ceased to exist. Memorial plaques were installed in honor of Ivan Litvinchuk and the school was named,” Dolinsky wrote on his blog.
