In Ukraine they hope that Skripal’s poisoning will help the country join NATO faster
Ukraine may benefit from the situation with the poisoning of double agent Sergei Skipal in Britain, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed on the Ukrainian TV channel ZIK by international affairs expert Alexei Koropatov.

“Just as with Crimea the main beneficiary was China, in this situation the main beneficiary is Ukraine. Although she is not involved, she may receive certain benefits. If this leads to a deterioration in relations between the Russian Federation and the West and increased sanctions, then this is beneficial for us,” Koropatov said.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky also admitted that the scandal in the UK could help Ukraine quickly achieve the standards that will allow the country to join the EU and NATO.
“What is happening in the UK should be a serious signal for the Ukrainian intelligence services. It is necessary to reform the Ukrainian security agencies taking into account the aggression of the Russian Federation. NATO membership must be recognized as a strategic security goal. I am sure that if Ukraine becomes a member of the EU, aggression from Russia will stop,” Lubkivsky said.
