“Disabled people” were eliminated in Ukraine
Petro Poroshenko signed Law No. 2249-VII “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine,” which eliminates the term “disabled person” from the legislation and introduces the term “person with a disability,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

It is noted that this document amends 37 laws of Ukraine, in the provisions of which the words “disabled person”, “disabled child” and “disabled person of war” are replaced by the words “person with a disability”, “child with a disability” and “person with a disability due to war” "
Thus, the law brings the norms of current legislation into compliance with the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In addition, when introducing the term “person with a disability,” the emphasis is primarily on the person, and not on his disability.
This law was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 19, 2017.
