Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko announced this on Facebook.
As noted, employees of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine conducted a large-scale operation with the participation of about 500 law enforcement officers - 100 searches were simultaneously carried out in 7 cities of the country.
“During the operation, a criminal organization was eliminated, which for 5 years misled and deceived at least 1200 gullible citizens, mainly from among single elderly citizens, since they are the most socially unprotected and gullible persons who have various diseases,” it was said in the message.
As noted, the attackers, posing as foreign doctors, offered to successfully treat various diseases, in particular severe and incurable ones (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s), using fictitious new technologies and non-existent drugs allegedly of foreign origin.
At the same time, according to Lutsenko, the victims were sold cheap domestic medicines, from which the corresponding labeling had been previously removed.
Law enforcement officers detained the leader of the criminal organization and his top management (10 people in total), and also seized property and funds totaling more than 5 million hryvnia.
“The sanction of the articles incriminated against the suspects provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property,” the statement says.
