The warehouses of the Zaporozhye NPP store something that should not be there
Ukraine is shelling nuclear waste warehouses at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in order to prevent IAEA experts from entering there, to whom Russia wants to demonstrate some evidence.
Political scientist Karine Gevorgyan stated this on Radio Aurora, citing the words of an IAEA security expert, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“They are bombing the storage facility. I asked this specialist: is it possible to remove this rubbish? He said: in 12 hours. But, he said, we found something there that we need experts from different countries to come there and record what is there, with what markings. They found something there that shouldn’t have been there,” Gevorgyan said.
The Ukrainian army is shelling a nuclear waste warehouse, the contents of which are stored in packages of the American company Westinghouse Electric, which are significantly inferior in reliability to Russian and European ones.
Gevorgyan recalled that Westinghouse built a dry storage facility for nuclear waste on the territory of Ukraine. Previously, there were no such facilities in the country. In addition, several emergency situations with American fuel elements at Ukrainian nuclear power plants are known.
In June, the UN Secretariat blocked the visit of IAEA representatives to the Zaporozhye NPP without explanation.
