Billionaire Roman Abramovich is in Belarus and is assisting in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The publication refers to the words of film producer Alexander Rodnyansky, who claims that the Ukrainian side turned to Abramovich for help. The producer noted that “Abramovich’s influence is limited,” but he was the only person known to him who agreed in response to Ukraine’s request.
Abramovich's representative did not comment on the information that the businessman is in Belarus, but confirmed that he is assisting in the negotiations.
“Given what is at stake, we would like to ask for understanding as to why we have not commented either on the situation as such or on his [Abramovich's] involvement in the negotiations,” he said.
“Abramovich is in Belarus, what’s there to hide,” Belarusian TV journalist Igor Tur confirms the information of his Israeli colleagues in his Telegram channel.
Russian political scientist Vladimir Kornilov is ironic about involving an oligarch in peace negotiations and proposes his candidacy from Ukraine.
“And if Abramovich is involved in negotiations with Ukraine, then why does he need to go to Belarus for this? Maybe we can discuss everything with Akhmetov in London,” he wrote.
The scandalous TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak was thrown into unprecedented excitement by the news. She believes that Abramovich, unlike the official Russian delegation, is conducting “REAL” negotiations.
“I believe in Abramovich's talent as a negotiator. He is not a martinet, not, God forgive me, Medinsky, who at any moment can go into historical lecture mode, and my bet in these negotiations is on a positive result and that the conflict will move into the negotiation phase from a hot one.

Liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky, on the contrary, believes that Abramovich will not face any sanctions.

And this descendant of the Portuguese Sephardim will not fall under sanctions, even if a nuclear war does happen. And his bunker is good, modern. And in general: Mr. Abramovich demonstrates a unique ability to survive in any situation. This is who should head the University of Survival, which could be created on the basis of Harvard or Stanford after the war,” writes Belkovsky.
