At Poroshenko's rally, police brushed aside nationalists
Radicals from the “National Druzhinas” and “National Corps” were detained by the police in Poltava before the election speech of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Nationalists came to the election rally to traditionally ask the president about those involved in the corruption scandal surrounding the purchase of components for the Ukrainian army at inflated prices.
It's worth noting that in Poltava, just as today at the Presidential Administration, protesters threw toy pigs at police . During the "performance," altercations erupted, escalating into clashes between the Nazis and law enforcement officers, who overpowered the most agile and shoved them into police vans.
All this time, the artists on stage were warming up the audience before the meeting with Poroshenko. What added color to what was happening was that the main fight took place to the cheerful chords of a cover version of the immortal hit “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop.
“We came to ask where the severed hands of the Svinarchuks are. But they received bruises, broken faces and broken hands,” the nationalists complained on the Poltava branch of the National Corps Facebook page.
According to the National Police, about 10 people were detained and charged with petty hooliganism. The department also reported one casualty.
