During a speech at an OSCE press conference, the Ukrainian delegation rudely interrupted the human rights activist's report on the oppression of national minorities.
Ukrainian human rights activist Rita Bondar speaks about this herself. wrote on her Facebook, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“If we talk about respect for the rights of migrants, it is worth remembering that in Ukraine there are internal migrants who are at the same time a national minority. The Roma national minority is one of the least integrated into public life. Due to widespread poverty, traveling to earn money is a very common occurrence. Recently, forced labor migration from areas of compact residence of Roma to large cities such as Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa has become more complicated. Over the past six months, more than 10 Roma pogroms have occurred in Ukraine, two incidents resulted in deaths...” - at this point the speaker was interrupted, not allowing her to finish.
Bondar herself later wrote her thoughts on this matter on her social network.
“My speech at the OSCE conference in Warsaw was disrupted by a member of the Ukrainian delegation. She talked about the internal labor migration of Roma in Ukraine as part of the topic of migrants' rights. Mr. Andrei Chesnokov, apparently, had nothing to say,” she noted.
