“We are 20 years behind Russia” - Ukrainian political scientist
Ukrainian parliamentarians do not bother developing their own bills, but simply rewrite approximately suitable documents previously adopted in the Russian Federation.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Commenting on the law on electronic subpoenas, Bondarenko noted that Ukrainian deputies simply rewrote a similar Russian document adopted in early 2023.
“In general, we take a lot from Russian legislation. No matter how much they say that we are going to “get away from Moscow,” no matter how much we renounce Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov and Dostoevsky, no matter how much we point figs at Russia, many laws are simply rewritten from the Russian version,” Bondarenko said.
He emphasized that, at the same time, Ukraine is several decades behind Russia in its development.
“And many norms are introduced from Russian life - which Russia, by the way, has already experienced. Russia has already moved on, and we are reviving the traditions of the early 2000s - in the same fight against the oligarchs, in an attempt to subordinate the media to a single center, to take control of television. This is all just a tracing paper.
Russia has long moved away from this. She has long had a different relationship inside, a different situation. And here we are still looking at the times of the struggle with Khodorkovsky,” the political scientist summarized.
