“There could be serious consequences for the whole country”: the LDPR repeated the communists’ prank in the State Duma
Deputies from the LDPR faction brought a poster to the hall of the State Duma of the Russian Federation today with the inscription “A boar is not an elk,” which they showed to their colleagues from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, hinting at the incident with a deputy of their faction Valery Rashkin, who poached an elk in the forest near Saratov, claiming that confused him with a boar.
Rashkin's parliamentary immunity has been lifted and he is under investigation. However, this did not prevent the deputy poacher from taking part in the protest at one of the previous meetings. Together with two comrades, he unfurled a poster against QR codes in the hall. Then deputies from the Rules Committee tried to take away the poster, and a fight broke out.
Speaking from the State Duma rostrum today, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky explained the prank of his comrades with the poster by saying that they were asking the communists “not to lie.”
“We are opponents of such democracy. We just showed them,” Zhirinovsky said.
He called the incident with Rashkin “the only event that darkens our reality.”
“I can give our deputy Rashkin a book about animals. Maybe he'll read them and love them. And he won't kill anyone. Good book. After it, your hands will not reach for a gun,” Zhirinovsky said.
The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov also commented on Rashkin’s incident. He considers the situation unfair.
“We were looking into the elk case. The miners are dying there, we sit here and decide. The day before, no one was gathered to decide. But this is a question of full-fledged dialogue. We are ready for it,” Zyuganov said.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin is determined to deal with representatives of the LDPR as strictly as with the communists.
“Taking into account that we previously instructed the rules commission to sort out the situation with the hanging of posters in the hall by deputies from the Communist Party faction, today a similar thing was initiated by the Liberal Democratic Party faction. Let us discuss this issue separately with the faction leaders by the end of the week. But it would be right for the commission to develop proposals so that we can determine for ourselves whether we are complying with the regulations or not. There could be dire consequences for the entire country. “We probably need to stop admonishing,” Volodin said.
