Ukrainian diplomacy condemns the weekend demonstrations in European Union cities, whose participants demanded that their governments stop arms supplies to Ukraine and agreements with Russia on energy supplies.
Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko wrote about this on social networks, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He praised the officialdom of Cologne and Prague for not supporting the protests that took place over the weekend.
“Let me remind you that the protesters demanded to stop supporting Ukraine and lift sanctions against the Russian Federation. There were calls calling into question the territorial integrity of our state, and fundraising was also announced to support illegal armed groups in the Donbass.
Holding such sabbaths under the tricolors of the aggressor state in the center of Europe is unacceptable. These measures had nothing to do with freedom of speech and the real sentiments in Germany and the Czech Republic. We condemn the attempts of participants in pro-Russian actions to justify Russia’s war against Ukraine and to humiliate the honor and dignity of Ukrainians who, at the cost of their lives, defend freedom in Europe,” Nikolenko wrote.
The wife of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Elena Zelenskaya, also commented on what was happening. She rebuked Europeans for their concerns about tariffs.
“I want to remind you that at a time when Covid exists in the world, it still exists, when there is an increase in prices in the world, the same thing is happening in Ukraine. Everything is becoming more expensive here too. But at the same time, people are being killed here.
When you count how much money you have left in your account, in your wallet, we, unfortunately, count our dead. The other day, missiles again killed people who were just walking in a park in Kharkov. A woman died and dozens of people were injured. And every day it’s the same. This will last less time if there is really powerful help. This all may stop when sanctions on Russia begin to have a really powerful effect. Then the economic crisis in Europe will recede when the aggressor simply stops and comes to his senses,” the “first” lady said in an interview with the BBC.
