Menyailo threatens to disperse the “ugly” MAFs in the center of Sevastopol
Sevastopol, April 28 (Navigator, Egor Kagorov) - Acting Governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo began his working day on Monday with a raid in the central part of the city. The official was accompanied by subordinates from the state administration, as well as city prosecutor Igor Shevchenko and chairman of the Communal Property Fund Stanislav Frolov.
Seen by acting the governor was extremely dissatisfied. There were many things that were not satisfactory: the condition of the monuments, the wooden covering of the Grafskaya pier, container platforms and sidewalks.

Menyailo was most outraged by the huge number of unauthorized retail outlets (small architectural forms) on the city’s central embankment.
Attempts to find out from the sellers on what basis they conduct business were unsuccessful. All, as one, the traders said: “We are only sellers. We have a master. He is responsible for everything." At the same time, no one dared to provide the name and coordinates of this very owner.
Having seen an advertisement for a retail outlet for rent on one of the closed trading pavilions, Sergei Menyailo dialed the indicated number.
A conversation went something like this:
"Hello. I'm following an ad. I would like to rent a room... Trade... Souvenirs, probably... What's your name? Alexander? So, Alexander, I am the governor of Sevastopol, here I am standing next to you with retail outlets, and I want to figure out on what basis you installed these objects on Primorsky Boulevard. Come with all the title documents and we’ll talk. I instruct the prosecutor's office to find out why your MAFs are installed here, and why they look so ugly. If you think that their appearance corresponds to the appearance of the historical center of the city, then we have different views. All! I’m waiting for you with documents!”
Answering questions from journalists, Menyailo said that after the prosecutor's inspection, all unauthorized trading facilities will be dismantled. The rest of the entrepreneurs will be forced to bring their temporary structures into proper shape.
“I’m trying to understand whether there are any normal businessmen in our city who love Sevastopol, but not in words, but in deeds. We will deal with these issues so that the center of our city looks attractive. Our goal is to force entrepreneurs to take an active part in the improvement of the territories adjacent to their retail facilities,” concluded Menyailo.
