The head of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov, stated this to the Simferopol TV channel “ATR”.
“The electoral system... it will not make it possible to have representation of the Crimean Tatars not only at the level of 20%, which was established by the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, adopted on March 11, 2014. The new election rules will significantly reduce even the number of Crimean Tatar deputies who are currently represented in elected bodies,” the politician said.
“Of course, this decision will be implemented by all regional mejlises,” added Refat Chubarov.
The Mejlis will not participate in the Crimean elections on September 14, says Chubarov.
