“Macron is lowering his political authority with his meeting with Tikhanovskaya” – Korotchenko
The meeting planned for Tuesday in Vilnius between French President Emmanuel Macron and ex-candidate for the post of President of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya will only hit the authority of the French leader, and any decisions made at these negotiations will have no effect on either Minsk or Moscow.
Military expert Igor Korotchenko stated this on air on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Initially, Lithuania wanted to be the main moderator of events in Belarus, and it is no coincidence that Tikhanovskaya fled to Lithuania. It is no coincidence that Lithuania is actually the only Western country to recognize her as the head of the Belarusian state. And then a certain stupor ensued.
For all its ambitions, Lithuania is too tiny a state, a Baltic limitrophe, which simply failed to cope with this task. That's why they call Macron to help. Because Lukashenko, to put it mildly, ignored all the calls and threats of Vilnius in order to organize a round table between the opposition and Lukashenko, where Lukashenko would surrender power,” Korotchenko said.
“Vilnius passed by, so they called Macron today. Today the President of France arrives with his charming wife, who is one hundred percent French, but this is the main substantive part of the visit. Because we admired the elegant wife of the French president, but Macron’s visit is absolutely destructive.
He came to bring democracy to Belarus. France has already brought “democracy” to Libya - the country is torn, there is a civil war, some Libyans are killing others. France does not succeed in the role of peacemaker, but there is obviously a desire to play a greater role in European affairs.
In this case, it is unknown whether Macron acted sincerely or was motivated to come, but this visit is absolutely destructive. No attempts to put pressure on either Lukashenko or Putin will lead to the desired result,” the expert emphasized.
According to him, the collective West should calm down and admit that today the Belarusian card is lost.
“Therefore, you can threaten sanctions, you can make visits, you can talk about democracy. The result will be the same - Tikhanovskaya is a nobody today from a political point of view. By meeting with her, Macron simply loses his political authority,” added Korotchenko.
