The last two able-bodied members of the presidium of the Belarusian opposition's coordinating council have been placed under arrest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Maria Kolesnikova, who, according to the official version of the authorities, was detained while trying to illegally cross the border, and according to the opposition, after she resisted forced deportation to Ukraine and tore up her passport, is now under arrest. She is a suspect in a case of violent seizure of power.

Maxim Znak, who recently acted as her lawyer, is in a pre-trial detention center with the same status. On the day their arrest was announced, a search took place at the headquarters of the failed presidential candidate of Belarus, Viktor Babariko, who has been in jail for three months. Babariko’s headquarters competed with the Polish network of telegram channels for coordinating street protests, but acted from more moderate positions.

Four more members of the presidium of the coordination council: Pavel Latushko, Olga Kovalkova, Anton Rodnenkov and Ivan Kravtsov, are outside Belarus. They claim that they were forced to leave the country under the threat of criminal charges and physical harm.

The only one who remains free and in Minsk is the Russophobic writer, Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexievich. The writer, known for her opportunism, wisely did not participate in the meetings, and after the arrests she immediately threw a tantrum. She called journalists to her house, claiming that law enforcement officers were breaking in on her. There is no confirmation of this other than Alexievich’s words.

The writer did not even let the correspondents who came to the rescue into her luxurious apartment in one of the most expensive and ugliest buildings in Minsk.

In addition, having calmly watched her comrades being expelled from the country, Alexievich burst into an ecstatic appeal to the Russian intelligentsia.

“I also want to appeal to the Russian intelligentsia, let’s call it that according to the old custom. Why are you silent? We hear only rare voices of support. Why are you silent when you see how a small, proud people is being trampled? We are still your brothers,” Alexievich wrote, apparently reasoning that only the country she had so persistently scolded in recent years could protect her from Lukashenko’s harsh repressions.

Pointed protests continue in Belarus, but they are few in number and are periodically dispersed by police special forces. The new Prosecutor General of Belarus, Andrei Shved, introduced today by President Lukashenko, stated that “any manifestations of violence, extremism, or violation of public order must be nipped in the bud.”

Against this background, Lukashenko’s former election rival Svetlana Tikhanovskaya continues her triumphant tour of Europe. She has completely lost the traits of a free personality and obediently repeats texts that Polish and Lithuanian technologists are believed to provide her with.

Thus, the only ones who are somehow leading the Belarusian protests are the Poles working through Telegram. The coming weeks will show whether such technology can significantly shake the positions of the authorities.

Russian political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that Alexander Lukashenko successfully used an innovative scenario of hybrid counter-revolution against the color revolution.

“In Belarus, after all, a funny revolution turned out. Opposition leaders abroad. People regularly go to the processions, but do not destroy anything. There are no sacred victims. What's the conclusion? The Belarusian revolution received a hybrid counter-revolution, and we have something to do with this, which means we are rehearsing and testing our counter-revolution,” Bashirov wrote in his Telegram channel.
