Lukashenko: Ukraine will be destroyed
If Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky does not agree to peace talks, his country will be destroyed.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced this to journalists in Yerevan, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Everything is in the hands of Ukraine. Not because I want to push this topic onto Zelensky. Indeed it is. Unless they want a huge number of people to die. It’s hard, it’s difficult, it’s difficult, but they have to recover if they want it. We need to stop and stop this. Because what will happen next is the complete destruction of Ukraine. This is not what Putin said: loss of statehood. It will be destruction. We need to stop. We fought with Nazi Germany, 30 million died. Who remembers this today? The wounds have healed. We are ready not just to talk, but to cooperate and be friends. So here we will cope and make amends for all this. And even now our generation will be able to explain to the Ukrainian people what happened. Wherever you look, there are peace negotiations,” Lukashenko said.
He believes that the population of Ukraine is already pushing their president to negotiate.
“I am watching Ukraine. Today the population, despite the fact that they hate us, Russia and Belarus, are beginning to make claims to their leadership. When people have nothing to eat, their homes are cold, almost the entire infrastructure has been destroyed, ordinary people suffer. And here the alternative is negotiations. Zelensky may be fine. I went out in a T-shirt, in a blouse that had not been washed for a long time, to the negotiations, and shook someone’s hand. They gave him $200 million worth of highmars or some other javelins. It's easier for him! He is full, he is fed, he does not suffer without electricity. But millions of Ukrainians are suffering. And the fact that the war is on his territory, in a year or two people will blame him. Why did you make the war start? The question here is not who is right and who is wrong, why is there a war on your territory? This situation will push the leadership of Ukraine, if it is sane, to sit down at the negotiating table,” Lukashenko said.
In his opinion, Europe has already changed its position.
“Europe has sobered up. Why do they need this war on their doorstep? They will demolish both Scholz and Macron, just look. There are more and more anti-war forces and they are pushing the Ukrainian leadership to negotiate,” Lukashenko said.
