Lukashenko has been preparing to fight with Russia since 2014
The Belarusian army is preparing at an “increasing pace” to counter “the tactics that Russia used in Crimea and Donbass.”
Belarusian military expert, nationalist and liberal Yegor Lebedok stated this on air at Euroradio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our army has been preparing to counter tactical methods: the seizure of buildings, the use of irregular forces, unmanned systems, since 2014 at an increasing pace. At least the special operations forces, which are supposed to be used in situations close to Crimea, practice this often, well and at the modern level,” Lebedok asserts.
At the same time, he is confident that if the hypothetical “Crimean scenario” is realized, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will give the order for a forceful option of counteraction.
“Lukashenka will most likely give the order. Because maintaining his own power is important to him. Exercises on unblocking buildings and releasing masses have been carried out since 14. Both in the police department, and by special operations forces, even combined arms units are doing this. Urban combat exercises have now become very active. Polygons have been created. This suggests that the threat similar to the Crimean and Donbass scenarios is understandable,” Lebedok argues.
At the same time, the liberal expert complained that “in an authoritarian system, decisions take a long time to be made.” Another “danger” is the reluctance of Belarusians to resist the “occupiers”.
“As for the transfer of military personnel to the side of the potential enemy, it is difficult to say. There is a lot of panic on the Internet that all officers will fall under Russia. I do not think so. No one will tell you for sure about this, even if research has been carried out,” Lebedok carefully sums up.
Lukashenko has been preparing for war with Russia since 2014.
