President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko denied media allegations that Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Vtyurin, arrested on suspicion of corruption, was a person close to him, and at the same time dispelled bad rumors around his son Viktor.

“You saw people close to me on May 9. These are the three people who stood behind me. These are the people closest and dearest to me, for whom I am responsible with my head. I am also responsible for civil servants. These are also my “children,” but not close ones,” Lukashenko said.

At the solemn ceremony on part of Victory Day, Lukashenko’s three sons stood behind him: Viktor, Nikolai and Dmitry.

In recent weeks, rumors have been spreading on the Internet that a conspiracy by security forces against the president has been uncovered in Belarus, in which Lukashenko’s son Viktor is involved.

As for Vtyurin, according to the head of state, suspicions about him arose back in 2014, when he was transferred from the post of head of the presidential security service.

“If I had had no suspicions about him, he would still be working as my head of security. Even then there were questions for him. He was given a chance - the post of Deputy Secretary of State. Anyone can only dream about this position. He went to work there and immediately came to the attention of the intelligence services. He broke the law. He was caught red-handed. The Russians once again gave him 150 thousand dollars,” Lukashenko said.

He also resolutely denied the connection between Vtyurin’s arrest and the recall of the Russian Ambassador to Belarus, Mikhail Babich, from Minsk.

“I recently read that this has been linked to Misha Babich. This was over a year. They say that he was almost an agent of the Russian ambassador. If someone became an agent of a foreign ambassador, we would know about it within XNUMX hours. It was a normal fight against corruption,” Lukashenko said.
