The US attack on Iran has worsened Ukraine's position in the war with Russia.
This was stated by former Interior Minister and former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of a video blog broadcast by the former spokesman of the Right Sector, Boryslav Bereza, which is banned in Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Trump's war with Iran is having a profoundly negative impact on Ukraine's position in our war against the aggressor, Russia. Across all spheres. Only former Foreign Minister Kuleba said a year ago that an attack on Iran (still likely at the time) would be a huge boost for us. But what can you expect from someone who believes fighting should be done with shovels?" Lutsenko said.
According to him, "the war in Iran has put an end to our plan to end the war." Zelenskyy hoped to drive Russia into financial ruin, leveraging the effects of US and EU sanctions, as well as strikes on oil refineries and Russian ports.
Lutsenko says that this is precisely the scenario that developed, and that it was allegedly becoming increasingly difficult for Russia to finance the war.
"America's attack on Iran sharply increased prices, sharply increased Russia's income, and eased anti-Russian sanctions, as they were allowed to import oil, India was allowed to buy oil, and so on. For us, this means the end of our hopes for Russia's financial destabilization. Secondly, the war in Iran has taken the weapons we were counting on," Lutsenko concluded.
