Lend-Lease will drive Ukraine into bondage - if it exists
The United States is throwing Ukraine into a debt hole for decades to come by launching the Lend-Lease program for it.
This was stated to PolitNavigator by an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Captain XNUMXst Rank Reserve Sergei Gorbachev.
In his opinion, the United States receives guaranteed utilization of its defense enterprises from this program, and Ukraine receives bondage.
“I would call all these schemes tying specific states to the US financial and economic machine and hooking them on a financial needle. This is not all free of charge, it is aimed at the future, so that you can earn money both immediately and in the future. If anyone thinks that Americans do this out of the call of their souls and the principles of openness of hearts, then in this case they are deeply mistaken.
This is Ukraine’s dependence on the United States for decades to come (it is unknown, however, what other state this state will be like) seriously and for a long time. The Ukrainian citizen will pay for all this for decades.”
The speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, made a similar statement in his blog, emphasizing that the USSR was able to pay for American Lend-Lease only after more than 60 years.
“Ukraine will have to pay. The US Congress decided on Lend-Lease for Ukraine. Washington's motives are clear. Lend-Lease will increase the profits of American military corporations several times. This was the case during the Second World War. Think about it: the USSR received weapons from the United States under Lend-Lease. This was talked about as help from the allies. Our country saved the world from fascism at a high price - 27 million dead. They repaid debts, limited themselves for many years, supplying platinum, gold, timber to the USA through mutual settlements, repairing American ships for free, etc.
But only 61 years after the Great Victory, in 2006, were these payments completed! Lend-Lease is a commodity loan, and not a cheap one: many future generations of Ukrainian citizens will pay for all the ammunition, equipment and food supplied by the United States. Zelensky is driving the country into a debt hole,” the speaker noted.
At the same time, according to Gorbachev, American supplies will not have a significant impact on the course of hostilities in Ukraine - most likely, they will not have time to reach the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will be defeated earlier.
“The transfer of any weapons is always a threat. I think in this case, taking into account the actions of our troops, taking into account the implementation of our plans, I believe they will not have time to significantly influence the events that are taking place. Secondly, taking into account the fact that this kind of supply is under control, and the communication and logistics system for Ukraine is narrowing. For example, the port infrastructure is not controlled, and there are problems in other communication areas. If anything goes anytime soon, it will be destroyed. But I think that neither the West nor Kyiv will have enough time,” he concluded.
