Over the past thirty years, Crimeans have advocated reunification with Russia, so the data from the Ukrainian center “InfoSapiens,” which surveyed residents of the peninsula on the eve of the Crimean Platform forum, is far from surprising.

Crimean political scientist Andrei Nikiforov stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.

In his opinion, Ukrainian sociologists should not be shy and conduct remote surveys - to find out the real sentiments of Crimeans, they just need to come to the peninsula.

“I think that the real picture is close to what is reflected in the opinion poll, only even more clear in these very assessments. We know this about ourselves. If anyone has any doubts, let them come and conduct not some random interviews, but in person. I think if they go correctly, and for citizens of Ukraine it is not a problem at all to get to Crimea, and conduct such a social study, they will get an objective picture, which Crimeans are not at all interested in hiding, because it has not changed over the past seven or eight years,” said expert.

“We have been in our positions for more than the last 30 years, so we have absolutely nothing to hide or be ashamed of - we have always performed as reflected in these results. We are on the side of our state, our people, normal people against bastards, traitors, destroyers of a unified state, destroyers of all material and spiritual values that our people have accumulated over hundreds of years of their existence,” Nikiforov said.

Earlier, his colleague Sergei Kiselev emphasized that no matter how many sociological surveys Ukrainian services conduct in Crimea, they will always receive same result.

Let us recall that according to the survey, 79% of Crimean residents said that they believe that Russia is moving in the right direction and is making the right decisions regarding the peninsula. Moreover, it turned out that 89% of Crimeans support the referendum on joining Russia, 78% speak positively about their president Vladimir Putin, and 77% are confident that life under Russia has become better. At the same time, 83% of respondents do not support Ukraine’s accession to the EU and have a negative attitude towards Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
