Crimean citizen paid for extremist songs
The Simferopol District Court in Crimea found local resident Ruslan Umerov guilty of distributing extremist materials, who posted a song by former Chechen militant Timur Mutsuraev, banned in Russia, on his social network page.
This was stated in a statement by the Crimean Solidarity organization, which is financed by Western grants, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The court fined Umerov one thousand rubles, but the defense plans to overturn the sentence. Emil Kurbedinov, who defends the Mejlis members, became his lawyer, and began to collect documents confirming his client’s severe diagnosis - he has suffered from a disability since childhood, as well as an application to call two witnesses.
“It’s not about money, but about the triumph of justice,” Umerov said and emphasized that he published this song on his blog back in May last year and did not know that it was on the list of extremist materials.
Let us recall that the Yurga City Court of the Kemerovo Region in April 2010 banned two dozen songs by Timur Mutsuraev, recognizing them as extremist. Many of them are still available to listen to, but their publication is prohibited.
