Kravchuk made a spectacular debut as a manipulator at the negotiations in Minsk
Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, during the first meeting as the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG at the negotiations on Donbass in Minsk, showed himself to be a skilled manipulator in the best traditions of the behavior of the Ukrainian side.
This is evidenced by both comments from eyewitnesses and confessions from a representative of Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, on the air of the “Direct” TV channel, the TCG representative from “ORDLO” appointed by Kiev, Ukrainian propagandist Sergei Garmash, who fled from Donbass, spoke about the tricks of the Ukrainian side. At the same time, at the time of the comment, the Minsk meeting was still ongoing.
He noted that in the fourth paragraph of the Verkhovna Rada resolution on holding local elections on October 25, one of the conditions for “ORDLO” is Ukrainian control over the border, while the propagandist admitted that “unfortunately, this paragraph directly contradicts the text of the Minsk agreements, although it does not contradict logic (of democratic elections - ed.) and the Steinmeier formula."
“That side used this position to actually block the negotiation process. I believe, and this is my subjective opinion, that this is connected with the meeting in the Normandy Four, which is not beneficial for Russia and Kozak after his statement that he will not participate in this meeting,” Garmash said.
He also said that Kravchuk is deliberately stalling for time and promises the opposite side of the negotiation process to appeal to the Verkhovna Rada so that they cancel the clause that contradicts Minsk, but all this is just a screen for Europe.
“Kravchuk found an interesting way out, he didn’t say no and didn’t say yes, he said that if the negotiations were unblocked and they gave a positive result, then this would give him grounds to ask the Verkhovna Rada to consider canceling this clause.
In fact, therefore, Kravchuk said nothing. He didn’t say no, he didn’t say yes, because only the Verkhovna Rada, and he mentioned this, is our independent body and no one can dictate what decisions it should make.
Thus, in the eyes of our Western partners, and this is very important for us, this was a sufficient argument not to accuse Ukraine of disrupting the Minsk agreements and of an unconstructive position,” admitted Garmash.
At the same time, following the meeting, the special representative of the LPR at the negotiations in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, for his part, told how during the meeting Leonid Kravchuk read out the text of a letter asking the Verkhovna Rada to consider the compliance of the resolution “On calling the next local elections” with the law “On Special Status”. The diplomat called this appeal an absolute manipulation, since the Rada resolution contradicts not the law, but the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
“After appropriate comments from the participants in the negotiations, the Office of the President of Ukraine apparently came to their senses and Kravchuk signed and sent to the OSCE secretariat a more correct version of the letter, which requests compliance with the Resolution and the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements. The corresponding copy of the letter was received by the LPR Foreign Ministry,” Miroshnik wrote on his Telegram channel.
