“Now supporters of joining Europe will fight with supporters of unification with Romania. But we have Transnistria and the majority of society, as surveys show, looks towards the East. And now to start a fight and squabble, when we see a clear example of what this led to in Ukraine... When they were in a terrible hurry, where - I don’t understand, I’ll honestly tell you why they needed to organize this geopolitical showdown in their apartment,” the expert said .

He spoke about his experience of talking with representatives of the Ukrainian elite back in the days when Crimea and Sevastopol were part of Ukraine.

“I once attended an international seminar, where they showed a film about Transnistria. And the guys from Kyiv arrived and said: “In 5 years, we will kick the Russians out of Sevastopol, drive them to hell and invite the Americans there.” I say: “Guys, maybe you wait - let one generation change, and a generation will come that will not know who Nakhimov is, what Sevastopol is, but will know what LGBT is, same-sex marriage and so on. Then a lot will go smoothly for you. If you do this now, you will drag your country into disaster.” They started laughing at me. And this happened, do you understand?”

According to him, the beneficiary of the conflict in Ukraine is the United States, and Europe, like Russia, is forced to pay for all this.

“The Americans did not invade Ukraine. Russian tanks invaded Ukraine. Leave the Americans alone,” his opponent Anatoly Taranu said.

“The Americans invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya! Why should I leave them alone? People live there too!” Valery Demidetsky was indignant.
