Kim: Zelensky is being molded into Churchill to silence inconvenient questions
In Ukraine, they began to cultivate a myth based on a comparison of President Vladimir Zelensky with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Ukrainian political psychologist Valentin Kim stated this, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We now have a lot of political and psychological myths. One of them is a comparison of Zelensky with Churchill. The figure of Churchill is truly complimentary for such a comparison. But, in general, the experience of Churchill and Britain in the 1940s is not very relevant for Zelensky and Ukraine today,” Kim told the anti-Russian propaganda online publication Ukrayinska Pravda.
He believes that it is appropriate to compare Zelensky with Churchill’s predecessor, Chamberlain.
“For he was precisely trying to delay the start of the great war at any cost, to create conditions under which it would be impossible. But Chamberlain is a figure, to put it mildly, not so attractive, and generally unknown to the average Ukrainian,” the expert noted.
He admits that the Ukrainians elected Zelensky when everyone hoped that there would be no war, and “no one perceived him as a wartime leader.”
The publication's interlocutor points out that Churchill had a coalition government.
“We have the opposite – a mono-majority rules. There are no representatives of any other political forces in the government. And therefore our society does not receive signals from the opposition, which is deprived of the opportunity to shape its agenda.
It seems to me that the attempt to make Zelensky the Churchill of our day is wrong. But given how often Mr. Zelensky’s team has resorted to populism, I would not be surprised if they begin to more actively use direct analogies with Britain and Churchill.
In the post-war period, they, of course, will heroize and mythologize the authorities, that is, themselves. They are already creating the myth “if not for this president, then...”. They are already trying to hush up a huge number of issues regarding the country’s defense capability and its preparation for war. There are already noticeable attempts not to expose internal corruption, but to blame journalists who expose such corruption,” Kim emphasized.
Let us recall that in July last year Zelensky received the Winston Churchill Prize in Britain.
