Kiev political scientist doubted that Poroshenko’s Russophobia is real
The initiative of the Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan to stop railway communication with the Russian Federation and other anti-Russian attacks by Kyiv are empty rhetoric to cover up business schemes with the “aggressor country.”
This opinion was expressed on the NASH TV channel by Ukrainian political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The government, which is supposedly anti-Russian, has been doing everything since 2014 to help Russian business in Ukraine. Our trade turnover is constantly increasing, despite the war in Donbass and the annexation of Crimea, we buy coal, diesel fuel and Russian gas through Europe. Consequently, Ukrainians are beginning to suspect that there is some kind of evil here. Therefore, the authorities begin to take some populist anti-Russian steps, which, of course, never follow through.
Now they say that we will stop the railway service. Nobody will do this, but it needs an effect for the electorate in Western and Central Ukraine, and on the other hand, it scares people in the southeast. But in reality, this power is tied to existing business schemes with Russia, so all their talk about stopping something with Russia ends at the level of talk,” he explained.
At the same time, the expert, in support of his words, noted that Kyiv is aware of the supply of Donbass coal to Turkey through Russia, but is not taking any real steps.
“Turkey knows very well that they buy coal from Donbass, but Erdogan is Putin’s partner. We do not express any diplomatic claims for the reason that Poroshenko, in fact, is a pro-Russian president, and in those issues where Russia’s interests can be affected, he does not act anywhere,” the expert concluded.
As a reminder, Dmitry Korneichuk previously stated that Petro Poroshenko's campaign's main goal is to depress voter turnout in the upcoming presidential elections in order to secure a second term through administrative resources and voter fraud.
