Kharkov vs. Kyiv: We won’t give Zhukov to a bursitis graduate
On February 26, a session of the Kharkov City Council again approved the name of Marshal Zhukov at the avenue of the same name. 52 deputies voted in favor.
“From December 19, 2019 to January 19, 2020, a public discussion was held in Kharkov, as provided for by law. Based on the results of the submitted proposals, 11 thousand 193 people spoke in support of renaming the prospectus, which is 86% of the total number of votes.
I would also like to remind you that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and marks the 75th anniversary of the signing of Germany's surrender. The decision to return the avenue named after Georgy Zhukov will be appropriate from the point of view of celebrating these dates,” noted Alexey Khoroshkovaty, secretary of the city toponymic commission.
City Mayor Gennady Kernes noted: “The law on decommunization does have discrepancies, which are used by certain forces to shake up the situation around the renaming of the avenue. But the city authorities still intend to use their right to give names to toponymic objects of the city... And we have the right, the right of the deputy corps, to make decisions that are within our competence.
We have chosen a consistent plan of action: within the framework of our powers and in the legislative field, if necessary in court, we will continue to defend the right of Kharkov residents to historical memory.”

He also reminded the deputies that on January 22, the Kyiv District Administrative Court, following a lawsuit filed by the Kharkiv City Council, ordered the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to approve the Unified National Register of Monuments of the Second World War of 1939-1945.

What was Governor Kucher, appointed by President Zelensky, doing at this time? He was not at the session; he met with local scientists. Well, the desire to listen to smart people is commendable, but he clearly did not ask them who he would appoint as his deputies and heads of regional departments. And here this lawyer, who previously defended the scams of the son of Minister Avakov, is not much different from his predecessors from the time of Poroshenko.
For example, the head of the department of culture and tourism, Oleg Yatsyna, whose Bandera views and whose activities are known to everyone who has the slightest interest in local affairs, has still not been fired. The Department of Mass Communications, which has become a haven for the most efficient relays of Russophobia and other “temniks” promoting hatred, also remains intact. These are those who are in their places and continue to work, as if the government had not changed.
But there are also new “talents” already appointed under Zelensky. This month, a most valuable person was appointed vice-governor - a certain Taras Pastukh. The Kharkov region, according to Kucher, cannot manage without it. Where did he come from on our heads? Maybe from Oxford or Princeton?

At the same time, the local regional council held two convocations.
Under Yushchenko, he headed the Buchach district of the Ternopil region, and under Yanukovych he was back in business. Under Poroshenko, he served in mobilization (“In 2014, he served in the ATO as a volunteer in the 128th mountain infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the Chesno website specifies), and then served as a deputy in the Verkhovna Rada, where he was a member of the Committee on National Security and Defense and steadily increased “the efficiency of the use of budgetary funds by managers related to the jurisdiction of this Committee.” He was elected from the Ternopil region and was a member of the Samopomich faction.
The following fact indicates what his views are: when the panel of the Court of Appeal of the Donetsk region upheld a preventive measure in the form of arrest for 60 days for the former company commander of the OUN volunteer battalion Leonid Litvinenko (call sign Bek), who was arrested on suspicion of robbery on guarding an agricultural enterprise in the Donetsk region, Shepherd, together with Semyon Semenchenko, was ready to take the bandit on bail.
He did not get into the new convocation of the Rada, just like his party with the masculine name. He got pushed around somewhere (there are many unfilled holes in his official biography) and was dragged to the Kharkov region by the vice-governor. Isn’t it an irreplaceable personnel, without which the region is unbearable?
And such personnel will command, including the city, which defends the right to its historical memory. Kharkov residents are not a herd, and they do not need shepherds (whether with a capital or a small letter).
