Kernes erected an ugly monument to Sagaidachny in Kharkov, dismantled by the “self-proclaimed authorities” of Sevastopol
In Kharkov today there is a monument to Hetman Sagaidachny, which, after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, was dismantled in Sevastopol as having no artistic value and transferred to the Ukrainian side.
“Last year, the self-proclaimed authorities of Crimea demolished a monument that allegedly does not correspond to the spirit and history of Crimea. Kharkov mayor Gennady Kernes addressed the acting Governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo with a request to transfer the monument to the Sagaidachny city of Kharkov, and the monument was delivered to the city,” reports the press service of the Kharkov mayor’s office.

In Kharkov, the monument will be faced with granite, the area around it will be landscaped, and lighting will be installed.
Earlier, deputies of the Kharkov City Council voted in support of the Verkhovna Rada resolution recognizing Russia as an aggressor.
In the 17th century, Sagaidachny's 20-strong detachment, helping the Polish king, made a campaign against Moscow, reaching the Donskoy Monastery. However, the Russian army under the leadership of Dmitry Pozharsky did not allow the capital to be captured. The Polish king did not have enough money to continue the war, and a peace agreement was concluded. Poland received lands that had previously been under the rule of Moscow - Smolensk, Chernigov and Novgorod-Seversk.
