Karasev laments: Russian-speaking Ukrainians are becoming Ukrainian Russians en masse
With the law on total Ukrainization and various blockades in relation to Crimea and Donbass, Kyiv achieved the opposite of what it sought.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What do you mean, “Crimea is ours?”, the peninsula or the people? Are the Crimeans ours or not? So they are Russian-speaking, but why then are we pursuing a humanitarian language policy? Contrary to Russian speakers who live in Crimea or the DPR. They were Russian-speaking Ukrainians, and now they are already Ukrainian Russians,” the expert said.
“Example: Hungarians of Transcarpathia. We don’t say Hungarian-speaking Ukrainians, do we? Because they are Hungarians, they are a nation. Russian-speaking people in Donbass, and in the controlled territory, are not Russians who simply live on the territory of Ukraine, many say that we are Russian-speaking Ukrainians. So what are we doing? We, through humanitarian policies, economic blockades, and so on, are turning them into Russians who live on the legal territory of Ukraine!” - Karasev lamented.
